FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
Answer: The AFC3 was designed to be configured in the factory not the field. If you currently own the receivers (current, unmodified versions of the AF220, AF310, AF610 and/or AF850 Series), then you should return the receivers to the factory for installation. We take the receiver boards out of your current chassis, add components and install them in the AFC3 chassis. The current chassis’ are not returned. Allow at least one week in-house at the factory. Payment must be included for the AFC3 chassis plus $7.50 return shipping/handling (for USA continental addresses).
If you have to install the receivers in the AFC3 chassis in the field, please call the factory and we can provide any special instructions. (See Item 4 below)
Answer: Option –MF .... which is available for the models AF220, AF310, AF610 and AF800 Series receivers is a 19” rack mount front panel (black). The receiver is mounted to this panel to allow installation into a rack system. This not a field installed option – receiver should be returned to factory for installation, since the cover and front labels must be changed.
The AFC3 chassis is designed to hold from one to three receiver boards and is designed to look like one receiver – takes up only one single 19” rack space. You select from any combination of the models AF220 (FM), AF310 (AM), AF610 (NOAA weather), and AF800 Series (public service band). The price of the AFC3 includes the following features:
· Balanced line output via DIN connector for each receiver.
· Carrier operated relay output via DIN connector for each receiver.
· Contains a small speaker and headphone jack controlled by a volume control for monitoring
· LED indicators for presence of carrier and modulation for each receiver.
Most of the above AFC3 features are usually an option if ordering a standard stand alone receiver.

AM, FM etc., etc.4. My AFC3 was ordered with only two receivers installed, can I order another receiver and install it myself?
Answer: While we prefer that the AFC3 be returned for adding the new board(s), the installation can be performed in the field. The AFC3 has wiring included for any missing boards and it is a matter of placing the board in the chassis (with four screws) and hooking up the power, audio, "S", balanced out and relay connectors. Instructions will be forwarded when the board is ordered. It should be noted that the middle position is normally reserved for a weather receiver, but other receivers can be installed in that place.( More Detail)
